Literature Text

Gentle breezes sweep across
the prairies, knocking dandelions' seeds
and allowing them to float across
the sunset-covered plains,
with the girl's fiery red hair
drifting with the wind.

Her vacant eyes tear up as she
remembers the night the world ended;
the night everything she ever hoped for
was destroyed, and she was left for dead.
Her frame shakes as the wind whips around
her strong body faster, forcing its way around
the disturbance in the desolate fields.

She steps forward and parts her lips,
allowing a ear-splitting scream of agony
to escape her mouth, and crumples on the ground.
The girl shudders as the fire and torment of that night
fill her reasoning, allowing her to grieve for the
broken man she crouches over on the dirt,
the wildflowers pushing over his face
and her knife to remain in his chest.
Felt it in my fists and my feet,
and in the hollows of my eyelids.
    Shaking through my skull,
and my spine, and down through my my ribs.

No more dreaming of the dead as if death itself was undone
No more calling like a crow for a boy, for a body in the garden…

… No more dreaming like a girl so in love with the wrong world.

Wow. This is really, really good. I'm serious. I adore the second stanza, and the last two lines. xD Everything flows well, and the word choice was awesome. ^^

Definite fave. ^-^
